August 30, 1999 BC Vein Drilling Continues
Cariboo Gold Quartz project update

Ticker Symbol: IWA-vse

10 Additional BC Vein Drill Hole Assays at the Cariboo Gold Project October 19, 1999

The Board of Directors of International Wayside Gold Mines Ltd. (the "Company") wish to report on the 10 additional surface diamond drill holes completed at the BC Vein, on the Company's 100% optioned Cariboo Gold Quartz Project; at Wells, near Barkerville Historic Town, in central British Columbia, Canada. Recorded production form the Company's ground and surrounding area is 3.9 million ounces of gold, of which 1.3 million ounces was lode and 2.6 million ounces was placer.

Thirty-one diamond drill holes have now been completed on the BC Vein. Twenty-five of these drill holes are along strike, 900 feet grid west of the BC Shaft (see composite plan enclosed) and six exploratory drill holes are along strike and test the BC Vein 700 feet grid east of the BC Shaft.

BC99-09 is the continuation and completion of the BC98-13 through BC99-09 fan location, of definition drilling of an ore grade shoot 300 to 600 feet west of the BC Shaft.

BC99-10,11,12 & 15 were exploratory holes grid east of the BC Shaft in an attempt to locate the next high grade ore shoot, while BC99-14 tested the configuration of the hanging wall veins intersected in BC99-12 between 88 and 120 feet.

BC99-13 intersected the Goldfinch Fault and BC99-16 and 17 intersected the American Extension portion of the BC Vein on the other side of the Goldfinch Fault which is open for another 600 feet before going into overburden.

BC99-15 intersected the BC Vein from 258 feet through to 320.1 feet. Sludge samples indicate anomalous values in quartz stringer zones in a weak, mariposite bearing carbonatized zones on both the hanging wall and the footwall of the BC Vein.

BC99-18 (see cross section enclosed) filled in the gap between drill holes BC98-9 and 10 (see News Releases 98-21,23,25 and 99-05,07)

With the receipt of the assay results listed below, the mineral inventory for the zone grid west of the shaft is being prepared. In addition, the unsampled core from areas which returned anomalous sludge samples is being re-examined and sampled.

Before proceeding with the set up for B.C. 99-19 through 21 (as reported in News Release 99-08), a proposal has been made to move to a set up 1500 ft grid east of the shaft in the area of the projected Waoming Fault to BC Vein juncture to test for camp historical higher grade ore shoots near fault vein junctures.

Management believes that an opportunity exists for an open pit mine (News Release 99-01) together with a high grade underground operation such as the BC Vein. The Cariboo Gold Project consists of the Cariboo Gold Quartz mine, Island Mountain mine and the Mosquito Creek Gold mine and covers 11,500 acres over a distance of 8 miles by 3 miles. To date the Company has drilled off thus far a measured and probable resource of an additional 1 million plus ounces mineable by open pitiable methods depending on cut-off and is open at both ends and to depth.
